About us

Mondim Station

Tamega - not only the name of our shop, but also a place in Portugal

Both in Spain and in Portugal, traditional public buildings, walls and wells are often covered with decorative tiles and murals. This building culture was also brought to Mexico by emigrants and colonists.

One of my journeys took me to Northern Portugal to the Tamega valley and to the hillside village of Mondim de Basto. The old railways lines there have many pretty stations, many of them covered with tiles (see photo above). The name of our shop was chosen from the memory of this journey

I can really recommend tours on the narrow-gauge railways in the North of Portugal. Unfortunately many of the old lines in this beautiful hilly countryside have been closed down or are being closed down. But the lovely old station buildings are still there, hopefully for a long time. Wouldn't it be good if the building in the photo could be restored and put to use again instead of staying empty?

Tamega-Shop - About us

We pay a lot of attention to high quality and an unusual selection of patterns in our entire ceramic range in the Tamega Shop.

In order to be able to present an unusual tile assortment to you, we visit our manufacturers regularly and also like to make contact with new suppliers on trips, especially in Spain and Portugal.
Traditional patterns and bright colours are our main focus, which we ourselves enjoy very much.

Nicola Krämer, the owner of the company, is a landscape architect (building industry) and places particular importance on design, colours and shape.

As trends evolve, it's fairly easy to change your wallpaper or wall plaster relief. In contrast, tiles can be an investment for the lifetime of your building or apartment. We want you to enjoy our tiles over many years and have put together a unique range which is hard to find elsewhere. Please don't hesitate to ask if you need some help with choosing the right colour and size.

Delivery times

Many tile sites on the Internet show great design photos, but you often can't order the tiles online at all or only in whole boxes of one square metre or in large quantities.

In our shop, you can order all of the tiles individually. So you can pick the tiles you want from whole series, or order tiles for small areas only. Or start by ordering a single tile as a sample to hold in your hand instead of just looking at it on the screen.

Not enough tiles for the shopping cart?
If you cannot put the quantity you want in the shopping cart: please do not hesitate to write to us or call us. We may have larger quantities in stock that are currently not shown online. Especially if they have just arrived in our warehouse.

Tiles from Spain and Portugal are usually collected from our producers at least once a month, so that our stock is always well filled. Tiles from Mexico arrive several times a year in larger quantities.

Are you planning a larger project?
We would be pleased to discuss possible material reservations for your building project and to make you an individual offer for large quantities.

Are you looking for particularly inexpensive tiles?
Have a look at our special offers. You can find there remaining stock and second quality tiles

Collection of tiles from us, opening hours

We do not have fixed opening hours, but we are normally available during the day from Monday to Friday, and by arrangement in the early evening hours too. Please call in advance to make an appointment. You can view, lay out and combine all the tiles in our shop and if everything is in stock, you can of course take them with you.
